Frugal Scrapbooking?

I am new to scrapbooking and am slowly learning that though this hobby is fun (and addicting), it costs a lot of money to keep the hobby up. Does anyone know of discount stores/online stores that I can check out for supplies? I am trying to find cheap pages, paper, and stickers.

Hobby Lobby, Michael’s, and Joann’s always have coupons in their ads. Often the coupon is for 40% off any one item that is regular price (Hobby Lobby doesn’t always have that coupon). I have learned that Joann’s allows you to sign up for coupons through email and mail as well and, best of all, you can use all the coupons in the same transaction! They also take Michael’s coupons. On the other hand, I have learned that Michael’s will take Joann’s coupons (the one from the ad only) as well as a coupon for another locally owned craft store. If you use these coupons, they will save you a ton of money. The only down side is that if you get on the mailing list to receive Joann’s coupons through the mail, you have to take them to the store and have the store scan the barcode on them–even if you aren’t buying anything. If you don’t do that, they will drop you off the list and it’s really hard to get back on. This happened to me about a year ago and I haven’t been able to get back on the list. If you aren’t sure of the policy, just ask a store clerk and they will tell you if they take competitor’s coupons.

Be sure and watch sales too. Dollar stores have a lot of good scrapbook stuff and some craft stores will have a dollar section. If you are into stamping, try using the clear stamps instead of the rubber mounted ones–they are way cheaper, but they don’t last as long.

If you are on a budget, avoid companies like Creative Memories and Close to My Heart. While they have cute stuff, they are very pricey and their products are comparable in quality to those you will find in stores. In fact, stores have way more variety.
