Drill bits for Dremel tool?

I’m thinking of buying the Dremel 200 tool for making jewellery. I want to know if it’s compatible with regular drill bits? Or do I need to buy specfic Dremel drill bits?

Regular drill-bits are fine – as long as they do not exceed the size of the collet. But understand that most “high-speed” drill bits are cut for wood or mild steel and will tend to grab with softer or semi-precious metals such as bronze or pewter, even silver.

You should look for ‘brass-cut’ or ‘plastic-cut’ bits. They have a much shallower cutting angle so as to make a cleaner hole with less retained scarf. Dremel makes a “soft-metal” bit set that is actually very nice to use and the bits last a good long time if not abused. I use them both in my Dremel and on my small lathe and mill (Unimat).

Good luck with it, they are nice tools if used carefully. They are not Pfingst units. Nor do they cost as much. Fine for most light-to-medium work, but if you intend to do much production, possibly not suited for heavy duty applications.
