I love this dress, but I hate the price tag– Do you know of any similar sewing patterns?


I found this dress at Jovani designs when looking at prom dress ideas:

I fell in love with this dress and did some research, and learned the price tag was >$400… I found this absolutely ludicrous.

I am a seventeen year old girl, and while I’m excited for prom, I hate how the drive to have a unique dress has driven prices so high.

I talked to my mom (who is a great seamstress and made my sister’s prom dress when she had a VERY unique idea), and she said that she would be willing to make the dress from a similar pattern. We have yet to find that pattern.

We have looked at Simplicity, McCalls, Vogue, Burda, and a few others without luck. Do you know of any patterns that are similar to the dress in the link? All suggestions are greatly appreciated.

That is a beautiful dress. Of course you will probably not find an exact pattern, however with some alteration for the waist band I think this pattern would work. NewLook 6401 on the Simplicity website.
