What are some careers that involve sewing?


Im a very creative yet independent person. I have to work with my hands, I have a degree in business but I don’t see myself working a desk job all my life, I really want to open a small business one day but my problem is that Im interested in so many things its hard for me to narrow it down to that 1 thing I want to do. I bake and decorate wedding/novelty cakes on the side right now but Im also very interested in learning about careers that involve sewing. I know how to sew, quilt and follow simple patterns but its not something I do all the time. I would love to make wedding gowns but for 1 I can’t draw- I just visualize it in my head and 2 I know becoming a designer is extremely hard but what other options are there that involve sewing?

You could work as a seamstress with someone else who has more design skills, assisting an established wedding gown designer for example. You could also be a seamstress in a costume shop, either a business that makes specialized costumes, or for a theatrical company. You could do custom tailoring for people – alterations and such.
