Making primitive and americana crafts

I was wondering if anyone had experience in making these products and if so could you refer me to a good website or book that would help me in starting. I decorated my living room in this style and spent way too much money and decided that I want to learn to make them myself in the future. I found a few sites that were helpful but I was looking for free patterns just to try out and see if I can even do it (I dont really know how to sew, though I am going to teach myself) Any help would be appreciated.

I too like this look and yes it is expensive. Just keep in mind a few things – simple brush strokes, bang, scratch and scape to make it “old” and keep any construction basic. Use primary colors with a white wash and you’re good to go. As far as sewing, learn to hand stitch, too. This way things will have that Americana look as well. Patterns are a good idea, but most crafts in this style were done free hand. Usse your imagination and trust in your abilities. Good luck. LT
