Will women buy handmade jewelry made by just some “boy next door” like me?
Is it strange?
My girlfriend and I are “rock hounds”. I know she loves certain stones. We both can identify minerals by sight. I decided to buy her some natural stone bead necklaces, ear-rings, etc. The cost was very high for those made with quality natural stone beads.
On a recent trip to China, I saw every kind of bead you could imagine. Some were dyed, or fake, but many were clearly natural stones. Some were costly others were not. I purchased enough to make about 10 necklaces (about $20 worth). I made her some jewelry. She loved them. I started making them for her, and some other female friends since last November. They loved them. Some of my drinking buddies asked me to make them for their girlfriends.
We know a girl that has a boutique. She wants to sell them in her store. She is only asking 15%.
Not strange at all…
“We know a girl that has a boutique. She wants to sell them in her store. She is only asking 15%.”
Make sure when you sell on “consignment” you have a firm written agreement to protect you and your inventory, clear payment terms including WHEN you will be paid.
Make sure you get deposit or prepay for customer orders from your customers (aka drinking buddies). and LEAVE in a cushion of money for mishaps refunds, etc.
and have fun..
BUT I caution you do not invest too much and don’t expect to get rich. Think small. When you sell something (and get paid) use that money for more inventory.
