How can I learn to make jewelry?


I want to start making jewelry and I do not know where to begin. I do not know if I should buy a book or attend classes…I just want this to be a hobby and I don’t want to spend a million dollars on this. So any info would be great. Thanx.

To truly start. Go to any beading store in your local area and ask the store assistants to help you w/ the basics. They also usually have good beginner kits w/ the starter tools. Essentially a set of jewelry pliers and a tool to cut and turn the wire.

To keep the costs down – Find old jewelry you don’t like or that is broken and take them apart and redo w/ you new beads etc.

About.com also has an online jewelry class that is good. They send you lessons once a week.

See if you like and then move to a class.

Be aware- it’s addictive!
