Sewing Question – corset boning…..?


I am going to purchase some boning supplies so that I can sew some into my wedding dress. I don’t know what exactly to buy. If you know anything about it… please go to this website and let me know.

I need to sew them INTO the dress b/c it bunches in my middle (it’s used – it was cheap – i need to make it my own w/ out spending a fortune) A corset bra doesn’t quite do the trick :)
i just need to sew them into the INSIDE of my dress. … there is a ton of beading, so you wont even be able to see the boning from the outside. I just need it for the support :)

If you don’t have a good JoAnn’s in your area, try their website.

Corset stays is another term for them – boning is a throwback to when whalebone was used because it wouldn’t warp over time.
If the cost is high, you might get away with spacing them out, or using just a few.
You do realize of course, that having these stays in the bodice may make the dress uncomfortable to wear over a very long wedding day. You might want to look into “temporary” installation – after the wedding photos, get them out so you can enjoy the reception :)
