Cub Scout (Webelos) Leader Gift?


Our 10 year old son is about to receive his Arrow of Light award, and he was thinking that he wanted to get his leader a gift. I want the gift to be personal, unique, useful, and thoughtful. I don’t want to do pictures (like a frame, scrapbook, etc.), or a standard desktop paperweight, or Webelos Coin….

We have one boy who is getting him a copy of an Army survival handbook, which is very neat. We can’t get him a knife, camping item etc because he is very much into the outdoors, and has an abundance of supplies.

I’m completely drawing a blank on this one, please help!

You could make him a shirt – either paint a design using acrylic paints or do it on the computer and use transfer paper to iron it onto the shirt.

He might like a stainless steel coffee mug – a type that could be used at home, for travel or for camping. Have it specially engraved.

You could get a folding chair, the type that folds down and fits in a bag, and personalize it by hand painting or stenciling some text on it.

You might have a do it yourself ceramics place in your town that will let you pick out a piece of pottery to glaze and personalize as you please. They will fire it for you too. There are all sorts of things you could do in a place like that – maybe a big serving bowl to use for enjoying his Trails End Popcorn in!
