about beads where can one get old beads or jewelry new to jewelry making?

Arton’s which is located in Toronto. Not sure about other locations. You can order from their website (currently under construction, but will be up and running in a few days). They have a huge selection.

For simple or basic beads try WalMart or Dollarama. The beads won’t be high quality (mostly plastic, some wood, glass or metal alloy), but it’s the creativity and design that counts, especially when you’re starting out.

For used pieces you can take apart, try a second hand store. ValuVillage and your friend’s jewerlly box (ask first! and tell them they won’t get it back) are good places to start.
